Kaz LogoTop-10 to be Announced Monday

The ballots are in and being counted by independent accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP for the 2009 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award. All of the NCAA Division I women’s ice hockey coaches have submitted their votes to select the top-10 candidates for the award. The finalists will be released on Monday, March 2. NESN's Kathryn Tappen to Host Award Ceremony

Kathryn Tappen, who currently serves as NESN's Boston Bruins studio host and as a "SportsDesk" anchor and reporter, will serve as the master of ceremonies for the 12th annual event. As NESN’s Bruins studio host, Tappen anchors the network’s Bruins pre-game show, intermission report and post-game show. Prior to NESN, Tappen worked at WJAR-10 in Providence, R.I., where she spent a year-and-a-half covering New England sports as the weekend anchor and weekday sports reporter for the NBC affiliate. She has received two Emmy nominations for sports feature reporting and has served as a sideline reporter for NBC Universal Sports and hosted a nightly special covering the 2006 Olympic Winter Games. Tickets Available to the Patty Kaz Brunch and NCAA Women's Frozen Four

There are still tickets available for the 2009 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award Brunch, set to take place on Saturday, March 21, at the Royal Sonesta Hotel Boston. Tickets may be purchased at PattyKaz.com or by calling 719-538-1184. Individual seats are priced at $85, while a table of 10 runs $800. Tickets are also available for the NCAA Women's Frozen Four, which will be held at Boston University's Agganis Arena on March 20 & 22. For tickets, click here.

The NHL Foundation, the National Hockey League’s charitable and community relations organization, has awarded a grant in support of the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award. The National Hockey League is committed to enriching the lives of young people in North America and supporting the efforts of its players and clubs in their commitments to their communities. Through the NHL Foundation, the National Hockey League supports organizations and programs aimed at young people, which extend the core values of the NHL member clubs, players and alumni. Clinic My Space Kaz USA Hockey/NCAA to Host Youth Skills Clinic

USA Hockey and the NCAA will team up for the third straight year to put on a free youth skills clinic in conjunction with the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award and the NCAA Women’s Frozen Four. The clinic will take place on Saturday, March 21, at Agganis Arena from 5-7 p.m.

About the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award

An award of The USA Hockey Foundation, the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award recognizes the accomplishments of the most outstanding player in NCAA Division I women’s ice hockey each season. Other selection criteria include outstanding individual and team skills, sportsmanship, performance in the clutch, personal character, competitiveness and a love of hockey. Consideration will also be given to academic achievement and civic involvement.
