USA Hockey is proud to announce that the 2014 Disabled Hockey Workshop will be October 3-5 in Washington, DC. New and existing program administrators from around the country will come together for a weekend of educational sessions and networking. The best part is that the workhsop is FREE! Participants will be responsible for transportation and hotel cost, but the actual educational sessions will be covered by the USA Hockey Disabled Hockey Section.

NEW this year we will be offering individual sessions for attendees to choose from. Those sessions, with descriptions and times, will be emailed to registered participants closer to the workshop. Some of the tentative sessions include:

  • Framework of a Program
  • Effective Communication
  • Supporting Your Program: Volunteers
  • Supporting Your program: Fundraising
  • Supporting Your program: Growing the Game
  • Public Speaking

The workshop will begin at noon on Friday, Oct. 3, and will conclude at noon on Sunday, October 5. This year the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team will play an exhibition game with the USA Warriors program. In addition, there will be a lunch with keynote speaker on Saturday.

The workhsop will be held at the Residence Inn Arlington Ballston. USA Hockey has secured a room block with rooms starting at $109+tax. Please call the hotel directly to reserve a room under this room block. All participants are required to stay at the host hotel. The ice portion of the workshop will be held at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex right next door to the Residence Inn.

Finally, we will be offering a Disabled Hockey Coaching Clinic on Saturday, Oct. 4, From 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. This coaching clinic will be held at the Holiday Inn Arlington at Ballston(a few blocks away) and attendees are encouraged to stay at that hotel if they are only attending the coaching clinic. In order for the coaching clinic to take place there must be at least 10 coaches registered by Sept. 5th, otherwise the clinic will be canceled.
